Count me in | Look up! Friday. 11.19.04 5.24 pm mood: too many thoughts... Have you ever noticed that people don't look up very often? I was walking through Perth city today and catching the bus and people just don't seem to see...people. I know it is rude to stare, but this is not staring..this is merely observing the world that surrounds you, be it up, down and all around. Everyone should try it. Why should staring be offensive? I think the eyes are beautiful and even if they are the windows to the soul...what do you really have to hide? It's pretty difficult to ignore the fast moving world that is happening. But people do, they have a thought in their head when they are walking down the street, an agenda to stick to, and never really stop to enjoy the beautiful weather or other fellow beings. It's so nice to just observe people when they smile silently to themselves, a laugh between 2 friends at a cafe conversations, a wave of goodbye and a subtle joke. The simplicity moves me somehow...and the thought that the person standing alone at the crossing lights has a life and story of their own. I went into town today to see my mum and pick her up from work. Lucky I didn't have work. But I sat in her office, which resembles a fish bowl because I can see everyone outside and everyone can see in. But I was sitting at such an angle that no one could detect me. But I could still see outside, more like view the downstairs area. I asked my mum "Do you feel that people are staring at you when you walk in the street?". She says no and she doesn't care cuz she walks by looking straight forward. I guess looking straight forward is a safety mechanism of the humen body, to be aware of any danger. But has anyone wanted to just look the other way? Imagine if you were walking by looking right ways all the time...I wonder how that would work...your perception would definitely change and maybe you will see the world in a different way. hmmm...probably trip over a couple of times but yeh...an experiment worth trying out. :) (I will not be held liable for anything said here lol!) It's so interesting to see how ppl interact with one another or when they are alone. I'm not being the psychologist here just a normal observer... but then again, the psychologist would stand in the middle of the CBD and look up just to the get others to mimic. Hehehe. Distract them for a while... Humanity is pretty amazing and humourous I think! 4 Comments.
